The extraordinary developments in techniques for the diagnosis and treatment of retinal diseases that we are witnessing in recent years are opening up new therapeutic opportunities. Enthusiasm for the possibilities of dealing more successfully with increasingly complex pathologies is accompanied by the need to take the best path by choosing among multiple available options, often very different from each other. All of this imposes the need for reflection in order to decide what is best for our Patients and our organizations. This is why I have organized the eighth edition of the International Retinology Meetings: Main lectures and discussions in a welcoming setting where leading experts in the field will bring their contribution.
